i) LORD STANLEY

He was a strong supporter and donated a large amount of time and money, to the cause of the St. Michael's Church. The street is named Stanley Avenue

 

ii) W.H. SHORNEY

He had served the village very well having been Clerk to the Community Council for 30 years at the time (this became nearly 40 years). He was Welsh and the street name reflected this. The street is named Rhoda Shorney [Shorney's Walk]

 

iii) H. Ll WILLIAMS

Huw Llew was the minister of the Methodist Chapel and a poet and was very well respected in the village. He was Welsh and again the street name reflected this. The street is named Ffordd Llewelyn [Llewelyn's Way]

 

iv) GARDENER

Mr. Gardener was a landowner in the Valley area. The street is named Lôn Gardener [Gardener's Road]

 

v) MANNING

There are two 'Mannings' referred to on the commemorative plaque, both having served in the First World War. They were Major Robert C. Manning, DSO MC and Lieutenant Victor L. Manning, respectively. The street is named Manning Drive.

 

The council were set a slight problem. It involved the Pendyffryn housing estate. The numbering of the houses was literally all over the place-there was no order to the allocation and deliveries were going astray, mail was taking longer to be delivered and generally, people and businesses were having difficulty finding the right houses for their deliveries. The Council was asked to look at the matter, and came up the following names for the steers after some serious discussions, but the following street names were selected:
